SEEA Appoints John Silkey as New Executive Director

ATLANTA, GA (June 12, 2025) – The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Silkey as its new Executive Director, effective July 7, 2025. Silkey will lead SEEA in its mission to advance energy efficiency policies, programs, and practices across the Southeast to create a more equitable, prosperous, and resilient region.
John Silkey brings more than a decade of leadership experience in clean energy, sustainability, and organizational development including terms as Chair of SEEA’s Board of Directors. Most recently, he served as the Principal at Headwaters Services, where he led clean energy, built environment, and non-profit clients through strategic planning and culture alignment processes. Throughout his career, Silkey has been recognized for his strategic vision, inclusive leadership style, and commitment to climate and energy justice.
“We are thrilled to welcome John to SEEA,” said Lauren Casentini, Chair of SEEA’s Board of Directors. “His deep knowledge of the energy landscape, passion for equitable solutions, and collaborative approach make him the ideal leader to guide SEEA into its next phase.”
John will start in early July and relocate to Atlanta in August.
“I’m honored to join SEEA and build on its legacy of impact in the Southeast,” said Silkey. “Having previously lived for 11 years in the Southeast, I recognize that energy efficiency remains the lowest cost and most accessible tool for addressing climate challenges, strengthening communities, and addressing energy burden. I look forward to working with the SEEA team, board, and partners to accelerate meaningful change across the region.”
John will succeed Aimee Skrzekut, who has served as SEEA’s President since 2021. In her time at SEEA, Aimee led the team in making significant strides in promoting sustainability, creating innovative programs, and driving positive change throughout the Southeast region. Aimee announced her resignation in January.
“Aimee’s impact will continue to shape the conversation on energy efficiency in the Southeast. We are incredibly grateful for her service. We are looking forward to what the next chapter brings for SEEA.” said Lauren.
