New EV Tax Credit Bill Filed in the 2019 Georgia General Assembly

In the 2019 session, a new tax credit bill was filed that would provide a $2,500 tax credit for the purchase and lease of new electric vehicles. Georgia launched to #2 in the country for electric vehicle adoption between 2011-2015, driven largely by state credit. The credit was repealed in 2015 and electric vehicle adoption dropped precipitously. Tax incentives for nascent industry are provide to help increase adoption and reports indicate that a new tax credit would provide new economic opportunities to the state.
