Join the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) to learn about ongoing energy insecurity initiatives and opportunities to engage with a network of diverse professionals working towards reducing energy insecurity in the Southeast. In 2022, SEEA inherited the Southeast Energy Insecurity Project (SEIP) from the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University. Products of this project have included the publication of the Stakeholder Recommendations for Addressing Energy Insecurity in the Southeast with input from over eighty diverse stakeholder groups, the development of a leadership forum composed of subject matter experts, a webinar series to share best practices for reducing energy insecurity, and a series of mini-grants to support energy equity initiatives across the region.
Join us for the opportunity to be part of Phase Two of this project, the kickoff of working groups intended to revise, upgrade, and turn recommended solutions into actionable goals to reduce energy insecurity in the South. There are three possible working groups to engage with, those focused on Awareness and Community Engagement, Data Access and Improvement, and Utility Solutions. We are eager to engage experts or those with a keen interest in supporting solutions such as developing a user friendly one-stop shop for eligible programs, providing centralized applications for aid, building educational awareness campaigns, developing “data dictionaries”, establish data sharing platforms, including community participation in energy equity data, implementing inclusive energy efficiency utility investments, expanding non-energy benefits, and pursuing energy efficiency and peak demand reduction. By bringing together experts across fields and the region to implement solutions to reduce energy insecurity, we hope to create a more equitable energy future for all people together.
