What is Energy Efficiency?
Most simply, energy efficiency is using less energy to provide the same or better services. Energy efficiency makes it possible to create products and services for the lowest energy cost and supports the following benefits:
- Deferral or elimination of the need for new electric power generation and transmission facilities and capacity, which keeps electric rates lower.
- Reduces electricity bills for utility customers who participate in energy efficiency programs and rebates and lower rates for all customers.
- Eases electric grid constraints and enhances grid reliability, especially during peak hours.
- Reduces environmental impact of power generation.
- Supports local job creation and economic growth.
- Improves health, comfort and productivity for everyone.
Who is SEEA?
Founded in 2007, the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), promotes efficient energy as a catalyst for economic growth, workforce development, and energy security across 11 southeastern states. We provide research, consultation and education, stakeholder facilitation, program management and financial services to a diverse set of stakeholders in the energy sector. We believe that all people in the Southeast should be able to live and work in healthy and resilient buildings, utilize clean and affordable transportation, and thrive in a robust and equitable economy.
