SEEA HOLDS INAUGURAL MEETING OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA), the newest of the regional energy efficiency alliances, held its inaugural board of directors meeting on October 12, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.  The Board addressed organizational issues and discussed program and policy options, including a potential study on energy-efficiency potential in the Southeast as well as a clean energy initiative modeled after the Western Governors’ Association initiative.

SEEA is honored to be lead by its officers:  Dr. Marilyn Brown, Chair (Georgia Institute of Technology); Roy Dean, Treasurer (Owens Corning), and; Raiford Smith, Secretary (Duke Energy).  Other prominent board members include: Kateri Callahan, Alliance to Save Energy; Ervin Cash, Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters; Brian Castelli, Alliance to Save Energy; Dennis Creech, Southface Energy Institute; Leonard Haynes, Southern Company; Earle O’Donnell, Dewey Ballantine, LLP; Kate Offringa, North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, and; Elizabeth Robertson, Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority.

“The Southeast is the fastest growing region in the nation,” says SEEA Chair, Dr. Marilyn Brown. “As an organization we have the opportunity to address three cornerstones of sustainable growth: economic development, energy efficiency and the environment. I look forward to working with our talented board to develop policies and programs for greater energy savings throughout the Southeast.”

The SEEA Board of Directors is actively recruiting additional board members from across the 11-state region. For additional information about SEEA and membership, please contact Kelly Ross Gillespie, kross [at] ase.org.
